City of South Pasadena Adopts New Bike Plan

On August 17th the City of South Pasadena adopted a new bike master plan.  The plan, albeit somewhat watered down due to opposition from local residents who opposed the striping of bike lanes on Grand Ave and Monterey Rd, is a step in the right direction.  Most notably it calls for the development of:

  • Class II Bike Lanes along Huntington Dr., and Fair Oaks (south of Monterey Rd)
  • Green Sharrow Lane through the Mission St. business district

Although the adopted master plan is not available on the City’s website yet, the final draft can be viewed here.

The Council will revisit the issue, specifically with regard to possible bike improvements in conjunction with proposed ADA improvements to Monterey Road, at their September 7, 2011 meeting.

Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
